Tilley TWC7 Outback Waxed Cotton Hat
This is my first Tilley-hat, it cost me a fortune and I'm not too happy.. ;)
I have this hat for about 2 months now, I use it 5 days a week during hard physical work outside.. I tend to sweat a lot, sweat stains become very visible, the green color of the material turns yellowish where the sweat touches the fabric, even though I wash the hat about 2/3 times a week with dishwasher-soap and hand-warm water.. I air-dry the hat, every now and then with the drying-machine with low temperature (almost cold) but still.. rain 'drains' the hat after about 10/20 minutes or so.. It's hardly protecting me from rain, it's like having a wet towel on my head after some time..
Also.. the Tilley-label stains..
The positive.. It looks great (I get compliments), it fits fantastic (2 sizes up from tilley-sizechart), it will not leave my head even with extremely heavy winds (I'm living/working close to the shoreline in the Netherlands).. the cord with sliding fisherman's knot is simply perfect! I sometimes get blown off my bike but the hat stays on! Also.. this hat is protecting me from sun (serious allergy).
Keeps it shape just fine..
I was looking for a hat that would keep my face 'a little more dry' during the rain AND not seriously stain from daily sweat.. this hat is not it.. is there a hat (Tilley or not) meeting these demands?
This is how the Tilley TWC7 looked like..
This is how it looks now..
